by Creed Shephard
Wednesday, December 7th at the Lawrence Art Center, we got a chance to see a talk with an audience by my dear old friend Yuri Zupancic on his work, an impressive sample of it being on exhibit under the moniker, Screen Deep for the next few weeks.

'Silicon Mountain' in GRIOT Magazine article about AKAA Art Fair
by Kelly Costigliolo
Yuri Zupancic is an American artist obsessed by the effect technology has on the environment. In a time when belongings become old so quickly, where do all they all end up?
Zupancic began to reflect on the fact that even small objects, when accumulated could become large structures.
Since 2004, his work has been based on digital pieces and his house has become an enormous deposit where he collects all sorts of different types of tech objects.
“Silicon Mountain” is a structure made up of recycled digital pieces, shaped and painted with a eyelas, creating a true mountain of art.
“The sheer size of this waste represents power, invention and the effects of a fast-paced society, often too fast to understand and to reflect,” he says.
